Project Background
Project Monolith (ML) is a prospective greenfields, open pit gold project located in Westalia. Based on a pit optimisation exercise in early 2026, Project ML has 3 initial mining areas that form 3 pits. The northern and eastern-most pits are considered satellite pits with the southern-most pit targeting the main mineralisation at depth, in excess of 500m.
Project ML will serve as a basis for simulation work to visualise the operation, identify bottlenecks, ideate improvements to the haulage network, optimise placement of infrastructure and gain familiarity with using the Orepath Simulator.
Sections 1 to 5 will provide a working example of how to setup a simulation project from an empty project.
Sections 6 to 9 contain exercises that can explore what a mining simulation can be used for, what it can highlight and explore.
